Biography.

Maria Corvaia O’Donnell founded The People’s Law Team in 2014 after a long and very successful background in insurance defense litigation. She owned one of the largest female owned insurance defense firms in the State of Florida and represented Citizens Property Insurance Corporation, State Farm, Allstate/Castle Key, Universal Property, Esurance, Mercury, Travelers, as well as other major insurance carriers throughout her long career.

Ms. O’Donnell is a highly experienced attorney in the insurance arena. She has also handled sensitive Special Investigation Unit (SIU) cases for major carriers to great success. Now she uses that invaluable knowledge and experience to help the people of the State of Florida get their residential and commercial property damage claims paid.

Michael Darwish

Biography.

Michael F. Darwish, a South Florida native, holds a B.A. in Political Science from Florida Atlantic University, where he minored in Business Law and took courses in urban planning and design while studying abroad in Venice, Italy. Before attending law school, Michael was a licensed insurance adjuster for nearly 12 years, assisting with insurance claims and gaining invaluable insights into the insurance industry. He earned his J.D. from Florida State University, where he interned with the Public Interest Law Center’s Family Law Clinic and Medical Legal Clinic and completed an externship at the Florida Housing Finance Corporation. Michael further distinguished himself by obtaining a Masters of Law (LL.M.) in Insurance Law from the University of Connecticut, one of the nation’s premier programs in this field which covers the backbone of insurance on society. This advanced degree has equipped him with specialized knowledge and expertise, enhancing his ability to navigate complex insurance law issues and advocate effectively for his clients.

As an Attorney at The Peoples Law Team, P.A., Michael leverages his extensive experience and passion for insurance law in a practice dedicated to representing policyholders and injured victims in insurance disputes. As a seasoned litigator and trial attorney, Michael has a proven track record of successfully resolving complex matters for his clients. He specializes in representing property and business owners in property damage and coverage disputes across Florida.

Michael’s expertise extends to maritime insurance law, commercial landlord-tenant and real estate contract disputes, personal injury protection, auto accidents, and aviation employment contract disputes. His motivation for practicing law is driven by a passion for solving intricate problems, inspired by the ancient Roman novel, by Apuleius. Michael is admitted to practice in Florida and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, and he is also licensed in the District of Columbia.

David F. Edwards, Esq

Biography.

David Edwards, a native of South Florida, attended Florida Atlantic University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. David then pursued a dual degree, obtaining both a Juris Doctor and a Master of Business Administration from Florida State University. During his time in law and business school, David also gained valuable experience working at the Florida Attorney General’s Office in the Economic Crimes Unit.

David began his legal career by co-founding BlackWave Recovery, LLC, where he managed claims related to the 2010 BP Gulf Oil Spill. He then transitioned to PIP defense and commercial litigation roles, including a significant tenure at Landau & Associates, P.A., where he was a key member of the “Kill Team,” setting standing records for settlements during his time there.

At Reifkind, Thompson & Rudzinski, LLP, David primarily handled PIP suits, achieving groundbreaking results by conducting comprehensive research, developing innovative litigation strategies, and consistently securing substantial attorney’s fees annually. He was also involved in establishing the firm’s mass torts division, contributing to enhanced client engagement and significant financial growth for the firm.

Recognized in the “Top 40 Under 40” by the National Trial Lawyers for the civil plaintiff attorney division, David excels in client engagement, case management, and leveraging technology in legal practices. Zach Greenbaum

Biography.

Zach Greenbaum was born in New York and raised in Chicago. He attended the University of Montana before coming to Florida to earn his Juris Doctorate from St. Thomas School of Law. Mr. Greenbaum started his career battling against corporate giants and timeshare fraud. He then transitioned to first party property, where he began working for insurance companies. After gaining firsthand experience with how insurance companies handle claims and litigate cases, Mr. Greenbaum switched to helping homeowners.

With years of experience working for insurance companies, Mr. Greenbaum brings a unique approach to cases with his in-depth knowledge of the carriers’ tactics. Mr. Greenbaum obtains the compensation his clients deserve through hard work, intelligence, and respect.
